Hi everyone! I finally finished my guest bedroom refresh after getting the ceiling fan installed, and I wanted to share all the details with you guys. The ultimate goal for this room was a modern rustic design, which is why I ultimately decided on features like a wood accent wall, metal nightstands and a weathered wood dresser with modern hardware to bring this look alive. I centered the design around the navy upholstered bed that I already had in the room. I wanted to tone down the color that was in the room previously so I decided to go with a white comforter to give the room a cleaner and more simple look. I used a mixture of texture in the bedding and curtains and mixed materials with the furniture, accent wall and ceiling fan to create interest in the room. The galvanized mirrors also added a rustic feel and created a perceived depth to make the room feel bigger. As a finishing touch, I added the faux plants to create a pop of color and to give the room a more homey feel.
My favorite part of a refresh is always the shopping! I did a combination of online shopping and shopping in store; I usually do most of my research online first and will go look at the item in the store if it’s available. I’m a very visual person so it can sometimes save me time and money to go see the item in person in order to avoid making a return.
I found an amazing collection of bedding at JCPenney and got the perfect white comforter set and navy quilt there, and I found the cutest faux plant that fit perfectly with the design of the room.
Target is a go-to spot for any of my home decor needs, which is where I found the metal nightstands. They often have really great sales and will offer a discount code on top of the sales price so I waited around on these for a while and ended up getting a smoking deal! You have to be patient and check their site pretty often to get the best deals.
I got the dresser from Nebraska Furniture Mart. That place is absolutely amazing and I always find the absolute best prices on furniture there. Luckily, we have a physical store location in the Dallas area and it is so convenient to be able to pick up your order there without waiting on delivery or having to pay the expensive delivery fees for furniture. I also got my Navy upholstered bed at NFM a couple of years ago, but they don’t have it in stock anymore. I have linked a similar bed below instead.
I got the accent pieces from several different places. It’s a little difficult for me to find everything I want at one place so I like to shop around and keep my options open. Below are all of the links to the accent pieces in the room. Some of the items that I purchased are already out of stock or available in store only so I have linked similar items.
The ceiling fan was the finishing touch that the room needed to tie everything together, and I am so happy that it came together so well. I have to give my husband major props for installing the ceiling fan. It was a little difficult to do by himself, but he definitely saved us money by doing so!
I hope that you all enjoyed seeing the progress of the room even though it took a while to complete. I am so happy with the outcome, and definitely achieved the design that I was going for. I will be sharing all of my Fall and Halloween decor with you guys soon, and will keep you posted on the progress of my 2nd guest bedroom refresh as well!
Thank you for reading my blog and for supporting me and my love for home decor!
